The Position
This position plays a critical role in supporting the Ethics
& Compliance (E&C) program by strategically identifying,
assessing, and mitigating the organization's top risk areas. The
role serves as an E&C Business Partner for assigned
departments and/or functional areas, working collaboratively to
identify and mitigate risks, advise on business strategies, and
operationalize mitigation tactics. The position is instrumental
in developing partnerships and strategies to promote the NNI
Ethics & Compliance program and the Novo Nordisk Way,
fostering a culture committed to ethics and integrity. It also
supports the Ethics & Compliance policies and training
function by developing and updating policy resources and
training materials, and executing on a comprehensive training
plan, which includes delivering live training presentations to
respective customer groups. The role is pivotal in driving
strategic risk mitigation efforts in alignment with the
E&C’s risk assessment, management and mitigation program.
The Business Partner is responsible for regularly evaluating
external compliance trends, internal business strategies,
monitoring, auditing, investigations data, and compliance
controls to proactively advise the business on impactful risk
mitigation strategies.
Relationships
Reports to the Senior Director, E&C Business Partner.
Works closely with stakeholders within NNI’s business functions
and therapeutic areas. Works closely with the E&C Leadership
team, NNI Legal team, E&C colleagues across Novo Nordisk
globally, and leaders across lines of business while serving as
an E&C Business Partner. External relationships include
vendors and consultants as well as developing and maintaining
relationships with the broader ethics and compliance network
within the industry.
Essential Functions

Provides strategic direction and oversees activities
related to ethics and compliance for assigned departments
and/or functional areas to ensure compliance principles are
considered when making critical business decisions while
understanding local and global impact

Works collaboratively with cross-functional team members
to identify, assess, prioritize, and assign accountability for
managing ethics and compliance risks throughout NNI’s operations

Reviews data analytics reports for risks and trends

Supports strategic direction by working closely with
assigned departments and/or functional areas on compliance
awareness and achievement of ethics & compliance objectives

Works collaboratively with NNI's cross-functional ethics
and compliance risk management stakeholders to develop
healthcare compliance risk mitigation plans and is accountable
for action plan delivery and implementation

Invests time to understand business goals, strategies,
emerging risk areas, and the regulatory landscape, ensuring
ability to serve as a knowledgeable and effective compliance
advisor and business partner

Analyzes complex business scenarios to support the Senior
Director, Business E&C Business Partner in identifying
potential compliance risks and provide salient compliance advice

Actively works to identify, analyze, and mitigate
potential ethics and compliance risks to the organization

Partners with NNI’s Legal team to review and approve
business processes, provide informed guidance, with specific
focus on operational practices

Supports the execution of the Ethics & Compliance
program, raising awareness of the program and fostering
accountability for compliance throughout the organization

Provides timely reports to E&C and leadership
regarding the progress and effectiveness of risk mitigation plans

Delivers ethics & compliance training and
presentations for audiences at all levels
-
Advises on business initiatives that include interaction
between company employees and healthcare practitioners and
regarding compliance obligations, risks, violations,
resolution, investigations, and corrective actions

Communicates planned business activities to relevant
Ethics & Compliance department members

Supports and coordinates with E&C monitoring,
auditing, and investigations teams, as needed

Documents all activities as appropriate in accordance with
E&C department expectations

Maintains current understanding of laws and regulations
applicable to pharmaceutical compliance, along with recent
trends and changes, and assists with interpretation of state
and federal law from a compliance perspective

Maintains effective lines of communication to report
potential incidents of non-compliance
-
Contributes to the preparation of government reporting
requirements, as needed

Serves as representative for Ethics & Compliance on
various ethics & compliance-related committees and working groups
Physical Requirements
10-20% overnight travel required.
Qualifications
-
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required
-
A minimum of six (6) years combined pharmaceutical, human
resources, legal, regulatory, and compliance experience
required OR a minimum of four (4) years’ experience required
if accompanied by an advanced degree or certificate (e.g. MBA,
JD, PMP)

Understanding of pharmaceutical compliance risks and the
regulatory requirements that impact the various business functions

Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and exceptional
ability to influence at all levels of the organization

High standard of ethics and integrity

Demonstrated ability to be proactive, exercise independent
judgment and demonstrated ability to work effectively on
cross-functional teams with all levels of management and other
company personnel

Ability to drive multiple projects to completion meeting
internal and external deliverables with high degree of accuracy

Strong project management, training and planning skills required

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective
strategic relationships and networks with internal and
